After taking a week off for the PGA Championship, the DP World Tour continues its run through Europe at the KLM Open (formerly the Dutch Open) in the Netherlands. Many of the DPWT’s top players are participating, including Victor Perez, who is the defending champion of this event. Find out here the latest 2023 KLM Open Odds courtesy of Jazzsports.
The Dutch Open has roots back to 1912 and Bernhard Langer and Seve Ballesteros are among the three-time winners of this tournament. More recently, Dutch native Joost Luiten—who is in the field this year—has won the tournament two times.
For the third time, Bernardus Golf in the city of Cromvoirt hosts the tournament. It’s a par-72, 7,445-yard links-style course. That means generous fairways and increased importance on putting. That was especially true in 2021, but Perez wasn’t remarkable with the putter last year. Perez won at -13 in 2022, but Kristoffer Broberg shot a 23-under 265 here in 2021 for the lowest score to par ever in the history of this tournament.
Two golfers from mainland Europe are the favorites despite this being a links test that you would think would favor those from the United Kingdom or Ireland. Victor Perez (+1000) is looking to continue a strong period that started with a win here last year. In January, Perez won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (also on a links course) and placed an impressive 12th this past week at the U.S. PGA Championship. His previous start on the DP World Tour was a top 10 in the Italian Open at Marco Simone Golf Club, which will host this year’s Ryder Cup.
Adrian Meronk (+1000) comes in as a co-favorite with Perez. The Poland native has won twice on tour this year, including in the aforementioned Italian Open three weeks ago, and finished third in this event in 2022. He is coming off a 40th-place finish in his first crack at the U.S. PGA Championship. That result could’ve been better if he didn’t struggle around the green because he had more birdies than anyone else in the tournament besides winner Brooks Koepka.
Alexander Bjork (+2000) placed in the top 10 at Bernardus a year ago and is also on a run of top-four finishes in the last two DP World Tour events in Italy and Belgium. Unlike Meronk and Perez, he will have some more rest under his belt from not traveling to the U.S. for the most-recent major.
Richard Mansell (+3000) is further down but has good value given that he owns two top-10 finishes on this course. Jorge Campillo (+2500) had his run of three-straight top 10s snapped with a missed cut in Belgium, but between that and a week off, he’s had time to reset himself. Romain Langasque (+3000) is coming off a playoff loss to Meronk in Italy in his last start and has experience at Bernardus with a tie for 24th in 2022.
Given their solid form and great performance here last year, it’s hard not to back Meronk and Perez. We also like Bjork and Mansell.
