2023 Ryder Cup Singles Recap

After three fantastic days of golf, Europe regained the Ryder Cup after completing a thrilling 16.5-11.5 victory. Here is a quick look at what unfolded on a dramatic final day in the 2023 Ryder Cup singles.

PGA Tour Odds

John Rahm vs Scottie Scheffler – match tied

A matchup between the last two Masters Champions certainly didn’t disappoint, as two greats of the game swapped leads over and over again.

With the match headed up the last, Jon Rahm made no mistake with a birdie putt and secured a crucial half-point for the Europeans.

Viktor Hovland vs Collin Morikawa – Europe win 4&3

Viktor Hovland has been a star for Europe this week and produced the biggest win of the day as he dismantled Collin Morikawa 4&3.

Justin Rose vs Patrick Cantlay – USA win 2&1

Patrick Cantlay has been one of the stars of Team USA, and had to withstand a Justin Rose fight back to win the USA’s first point of the day.

Rory McIlroy vs Sam Burns – Europe win 3&1

Fuelled by the drama of his defeat in last evening’s fourballs, Rory McIlroy was able to channel all of his energy to run out as a dominant victor over Sam Burns.

Matt Fitzpatrick vs Max Homa – USA win 1 up

Max Homa outlasted Matt Fitzpatrick to keep America’s hopes of retaining their Ryder Cup title alive.

With both players missing numerous putts, it was Homa who was finally able to hold the crucial putt when it mattered as he won his third point of the week.

Tyrell Hatton vs Brian Harman – Europe win 3&2

A fast start from Tyrell Hatton kept him at arm’s length from Open Champion Brian Harman. Despite Harman’s best efforts, he couldn’t quite produce enough quality to overhaul the Englishman’s lead.

Ludvig Aberg vs Brooks Koepka – USA win 3&2

Brooks Koepka put on a clinic to assign Ludvig Aberg to his first singles defeat in his first-ever Ryder Cup singles match.

Sepp Straka vs Justin Thomas – USA win 2 up

Justin Thomas raced into an early lead against Sepp Straka and never looked back. To Straka’s credit, he battled hard to take the match down eighteen but couldn’t get up and down to give Thomas yet another Ryder Cup singles victory.

Nicolai Hojgaard vs Xander Schauffele – USA win 3&2

Xander Schauffele was never in trouble as he cantered to a 3&2 victory over the European rookie.

Shane Lowry vs Jordan Spieth – match tied

In a match that ebbed and flowed, Shane Lowry and Jordan Spieth ended their titanic tussle all square.

Tommy Fleetwood vs Rickie Fowler – Europe win 3&1

Few would have predicted that this year’s Ryder Cup would have been won by Tommy Fleetwood.

With Fleetwood heading up the 16th hole with a one-hole lead, Fowler found the water with his drive to ensure that the Ryder Cup would return to European hands.

Robert MacIntyre vs Wyndham Clark – Europe wins 2&1

Robert MacIntyre ensured he would go through this Ryder Cup unbeaten as he managed to beat Wyndham Clark in the final match of the day’s singles.
