Barbasol Championship Round 3 Highlights

World number 450 surges into Barbasol Championship lead

Trevor Cone produced one of the rounds of the day to lead this year’s Barbasol Championship.

The world number 450, few would have believed that the PGA rookie would find himself in contention heading into today’s final round. To put Cone’s week into perspective, he has played twenty tournaments this year and has missed the cut in eleven of those starts. His best finish came in the Byron Nelson where he finished 23rd.

Consecutive rounds of 65 and 63, will see Cone tee off in a final group for the first time in his PGA career.

With the third-round tee times moved up due to bad weather, former US Open champion Lucas Glover was hoping to cement his lead. Despite the soft conditions, Glover couldn’t get the crucial putts to drop and a quiet three under 69 will see him start today one shot behind Cone.

Vincent Norrman is another who has managed to maintain his place near the top of the leaderboard. Like Cone, Norrman is looking for his first-ever PGA victory and managed to keep himself in contention with his second consecutive round of 67.

Barbasol Championship Round 4 Preview

The final round of this year’s Barbasol is set to be dramatic as twelve players will start within four strokes of the lead.

Despite starting today a stroke behind, it’s Vincent Norrman who has been installed as the tournament favorite. The Swede is a recent graduate from the Korn Ferry Tour and has posted one top-ten finish this year which came at the 2023 Byron Nelson. Having posted numerous top-five efforts on both the Korn Ferry and DP World Tours he will hope to land his first professional title today.

Lucas Glover has been positioned at the top of the leaderboard since Thursday’s opening round. After a slow start to his season, Glover switched putters ahead of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The switch has clearly worked as he finished 4th and brought that form into last week’s John Deere Classic where he finished 6th. Looking for his first win in over two years, the four-time PGA winner might be the best bet of today.

Current leader Trevor Cone rounds out the top three in the betting. Few would have picked Cone to be a contender heading into the week, but the Virginia Tech Graduate has been the best player of the tournament in the last two rounds shooting a combined -16 through his last 36 holes. If he keeps up that level of form he won’t be beaten.

One man who has steadily got better with each round is Frenchman Adrien Saddier. Saddier is currently ranked at 513 in the world and mainly plays his trade on the DP World Tour. Yet to win on either Tour, he will start today two strokes off the lead but could represent some value if he can maintain his current standards and upward trend up the leaderboard.
