BMW Championship Round 2 Highlights & Round 3 Odds

It was all change in yesterday’s second round at the BMW Championship, as Max Homa recorded the lowest round in BMW playoff history to head into today’s third round with a two stroke lead. Here the BMW Championship Round 2 Highlights & Round 3 Betting Odds!

Homa surges as McIlroy loses grip on lead

Max Homa surged to the top of the BMW Championship with a stunning second round -8, 62. Homa’s round included ten birdies and two bogeys with the Californian at one stage posting six birdies in just eight holes.

Homa’s stunning display saw him move to third in the overall FedEx standings. Leading by two strokes, Homa’s nearest challenger is Chris Kirk.

The 2023 Honda Classic winner, Kirk’s form has tailed away following that win but he looks back to his ball striking best here.

Two consecutive rounds of 66 have left the easy swinging American in a great position to land the biggest prize of his career to date.

First round leader Rory McIlroy would have started yesterday with high hopes of kicking on and building his lead further, but it would end up being a frustrating day for the world number 2.

With his putter stone cold, the Northern Irishman made 16 pars on his way to a level par round of 70. Now five shots back, he will need to rediscover his scoring touch on the greens if he is to bounce back into contention.

It was a similar story for world number one Scottie Scheffler who shot 17 pars to record a -1, 69. Like McIlroy, he will start today five shots behind.

BMW Championship Round 3 Betting Preview

Due to his exploits yesterday Max Homa is now the strong favorite for victory.

Homa has rounded nicely into form with two top ten finishes in his last two starts, therefore his lead can’t be considered a surprise.

Yesterday he was clinical on the greens and deadly with his irons, if he can get close to reproducing that form he will be exceptionally hard to catch.

Although he saw his grip on the lead slip yesterday, Rory McIlroy is still the second favorite for victory.

His driving accuracy off the tee was much better than in the first round but the Northern Irishman couldn’t get anything going on the greens.

These days it’s rare that McIlroy wins from off the front, and for those looking to back him you can take heart from the fact he usually plays his best golf when chasing down the lead.

At the same price as McIlroy is world number one Scottie Scheffler. The Texan usually saves his best for the weekend and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him shoot up the leaderboard today. Although time is running out, he can’t be discounted.

Justin Rose has been one of the best players on Tour this year. After a few years in the golfing wilderness, Rose has rediscovered the form that took him right to the top of the game.

A brilliant 65 has moved him to within five of the lead and he could be a fantastic value option today.

So too could Viktor Hovland. The Norwegian is no stranger to making big moves over the weekend and although he is currently eight strokes behind he has the game to catapult himself right into contention.
