Farmers Insurance Open Round 3 Recap and Round 4 Preview

With the third round in the books at this year’s Farmers Insurance Open, it’s a case of as you were as Sam Ryder leads the field by two on -12. Check our Farmers Open Round 3 Recap and last round preview and odds.

Ryder has led after every round and shot an even par 72 yesterday (You can check the Farmers Open Round One & Two Recap here) to ensure he would start today in the final pairing. Ryder is looking to win his first-ever title on the PGA Tour. However, to do it, he will need to do it the hard way as a host of some of the world’s best players are closing in.

Farmers Open Round 3: Rahm swoops into contention

Ryder was led by three from Brendon Steele. Steele quickly found himself tumbling down the leaderboard thanks to two bogeys in his opening four holes. Elsewhere, Jon Rahm, who is looking to win for the third successive time on Tour was making his move.

Starting eight shots off the pace, Rahm got his round motoring when he picked up five shots in four holes – which included an eagle on the par 5 ninths. Coming home in tricky conditions. Rahm was able to play solid golf picking up one solitary shot to finish on -10, two behind Ryder.

Tony Finau and Max Homa are among the contenders

Yesterday’s third round saw the cream rise to the top as Tony Finau, Max Homa, Sung Jae-Im, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala all currently sit inside the top 5 and within five strokes of the lead.

With so much quality chasing Ryder, it’s inevitable that someone from this group will make a final day charge.

A rare Saturday finish awaits today and everything looks set for a truly superb day of golf.

PGA Tour Odds: Round 4 betting preview

Today’s final round will see a host of players believing that they are in with a chance of winning this famous tournament.

Jon Rahm knows that a win today will not only see him land his third PGA title of the year  but will also see him return to the top of the golf world rankings. Despite sitting two off the lead, Rahm is the favourite for victory and can be backed at an attractive price of +120.

This year’s Farmer Insurance Open has been played amidst some tough conditions and Sam Ryder deserves enormous credit for how he has played so far this week. Ryder has led since the conclusion of the first round and has kept his cool and composure in the face of some tough conditions. It’s inevitable that at some stage Ryder will feel the pressure of the world class group behind him and it will be fascinating to see whether he can see the job through today.

PGA Tour Odds

Tony Finau was one of the biggest beneficiaries of moving day with the big hitting American posting a fine eight under 64 to finish four off the lead. In the last 6 months Finau has tasted success twice on Tour and is looking to kickstart his 2023 with a victory here. A devastating ball striker odds of +650 could be the value option of the day.

Farmers Open Round 4 Odds

At longer odds of +1800 the best long shot bet of the day could be Max Homa. A Californian native, there is something that Homa clearly likes when playing in his home state as he has won three of his last six Californian starts. Homa has battled all week to post his current score of -7 and if he can cut out some of the silly mistakes that have crept into his game he will have a great chance of victory.
