Memorial Tournament Round 3 Recap

Windy conditions ensures that moving day lives up to its name

With Muirfield Village already regarded as one of the sternest tests in the game, windy weather ensured that yesterday’s third round would be full of drama.

Kicking off round three in the lead was PGA rookie Justin Suh. Leading by one, it would turn into a day to forget for the American who started his round with four successive bogeys.

With Suh struggling, others looked to take advantage.

David Lipsky started yesterday’s third round two off the lead and he quickly found himself at the top of the leaderboard after picking up three strokes through his first twelve holes. With his nearest challenger Hideki Matsuyama finding the water on the par 3 twelfth, a triple bogey saw the Japanese tumble out of contention and left Lipsky leading by three.

Despite his recent struggles, Rory McIlroy was quietly going about his business and found three birdies in his final seven holes to finish the day on -6.

Lipsky would eventually see his lead wiped out and today he starts level with the Northern Irishman on -6 due to three costly bogeys in his final five holes.

Si Woo Kim ensured he would finish the day at the top of the leaderboard thanks to an eventful round of 71 that consisted of six birdies, two double bogeys, and a bogey.

Despite the three-way tie for the lead, this tournament is far from over.

There are ten players starting the day within two strokes of the lead, with Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, and Wyndham Clark just some of the names in the chasing pack to keep an eye on.

Memorial Tournament Round 4 Betting Preview

With the leaderboard tightly packed this year’s Memorial is still very much up for grabs.

Leading the way in the betting is Rory McIlroy. It’s been a mixed season for the world number three who despite some good results, hasn’t performed at his best in the majors. Coming into the week admitting he has had problems with his swing, he battled hard to keep himself around the top of the leaderboard.

Yesterday McIlroy’s troubles off the tee were rescued with his stunning form on the greens, if he can put as well as he did yesterday, he has a great chance of success.

Si Woo Kim often heads into tournaments vastly underestimated, and it’s easy to forget that he has won four times on Tour.

One of the most aggressive players on the field, he only knows how to play one way. If there are few players as devastating on a going day and as long as he can keep his ball out of trouble, he could be a decent value option today.

Viktor Hovland has been knocking on the door in recent weeks and for the third successive tournament finds himself bang in contention heading into the final round. His third-round 69 was his best performance of the week and he should carry a lot of momentum heading into today’s final round.

Wyndham Clark has had the best year of his career and won his first PGA title just a few weeks ago at the Wells Fargo. Clark finds himself in the mix once more and will start today just a stroke behind. After three solid rounds, he could be the best value angle of the day.
