US Senior Open Odds, Field & Betting Picks

It is well and truly major season. With the men and women having just completed the US Open and LPGA Championship respectively, it’s now time for the seniors to take center stage in this year’s US Senior Open Championship. Check the US Senior Open Odds and our Free betting picks!

This year’s tournament will take place at Sentryworld in Wisconsin. A field of 156 players is set to gather for the Champions Tour’s biggest prize of the year. With a deep and loaded field, here are some of the best bets you can look to place ahead of what is bound to be four dramatic days of action.

PGA Tour Odds

The favorites

Steve Stricker is the favorite heading into this week and it’s easy to see why. A former winner of this tournament back in 2019, Stricker has been a tour de force since playing on the PGA Tour Champions. With titles to his name already, he already has three wins in 2023 including his last start in the 2023 American Family Insurance Championship.

A native of Wisconsin, Sentryworld is somewhat of a homecoming for the former US Ryder Cup captain. In form and with the home crowd set to be fully behind him, Stricker could take some stopping this week.

One man hoping to play the role of spoiler is three-time major champion, Padraig Harrington. Harrington has been nothing short of sensational since he started playing on the Champions Tour. A winner of last week’s Dick Sporting Goods Open, Harrington has played seven tournaments on the Champions Tour this season, finishing in the top ten six times.

The defending champion following his success in last year’s event, Harrington is flying and looks like one of the safest bets of the week.

Steven Alker rounds out the top three in the betting and the man from New Zealand is looking to add to his major haul following his win in the 2022 Senior PGA Championship.

A six-time winner on the Champions Tour, it was Alker was the most consistent player on Tour last year as he won the 2022 Charles Schwab Cup. No stranger to the top of the leaderboard, he could be the value angle of this year’s tournament.

Value Bets

Ernie Els was in control of last week’s Dicks Sporting Goods Open, but he didn’t have any answers for Padraig Harrington’s stunning final round.

A winner of over 75 tournaments across the globe, Els certainly knows what it takes to win some of the world’s biggest tournaments. Odds of +1600 look on the large side and he must be one of the best value options of the week.

David Toms won this tournament five years ago and still holds all the class that saw him climb as high as five in the official golf world rankings.

Not as active on the Champions Tour as the likes of Harrington and Stricker, he has still been able to win twice this year. Toms certainly knows what is needed to win this tournament and certainly has the ability to go close.

Long shot

In a 156-man tournament, there is plenty of value that can be found, and one player at a price to potentially keep an eye on is former Masters Champion, Mike Weir.

Weir hasn’t had the most prolific of seasons on the Champions Tour but does have two top tens this year.

Yet to win a Senior Major, he posted a second-place finish at this event back in 2021 and looks to have an outside chance of going one place better this year.
