Emiliano Grillo had a two shot lead heading to the 18th hole when he hit his tee shot into a cul-vert and ended up taking a double bogey and going to a playoff. On the second playoff hole, he birdied to defeat Adam Shink and win the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial for his first victory in 7 and a half years. His only other win was the 2015 Frys Open.
The victory moved Grillo to 42nd in the world rankings. Scottie Scheffler finished third while club pro Michael Block missed the cut.
Steve Stricker beat Padraig Harrington on the first playoff hole to win the Seniors PGA Championship. It is his 6th major out of his 14 wins on the Senior Tour. Stewart Cink finished third.
The LIV tour headed to the Washington DC area for this week’s event and Harold Varner the third took home the 4 million dollar check after knocking in a one-footer on the 18th hole. Branden Grace finished second and Mito Pereira finished third. PGA champion Brooks Koepka finished 12th in his return to the LIV tour. In the team competition, Torque was the winner by 3 shots over the Stingers. Mito Pereira is captain of the team.
The PGA Tour heads to Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial tournament hosted by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. 15 of the worlds top 20 will be in the field and the favorite will be world number one Scottie Scheffler at 6/1.
Last year’s champion Billy Hor-chel is 75/1 and two time winner Patrick Cantlay is the third choice at 10/1. 2020 winner Jon Rahm is second in the wagering at 7/1.
