Former World number one Justin Rose overcame wind and rain to capture his first PGA victory in four years.
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am had to extend into Monday after high winds forced officials to suspend play over the weekend.
Rose shot a 66 in the final round and finished at 18 under par, 3 shots ahead of Brendan Todd and Brandon Wu. With the victory, Justin Rose moved to 35th in the world and is looking good for a spot on the European Ryder Cup team
The battle between the LIV and PGA tours played out this week in the Saudi International. The field which included many of the LIV players, as well as those PGA players that wanted to make the journey, turned into a wire-to-wire victory for 31-year-old Abraham Ancer.
Ancer plays on the LIV tour and represents Mexico in the team competition was two ahead of PGA player Cameron Young with fellow PGA tour player Lucas Herbert and another 2 back in 3rd place.
The PGA tour heads to Phoenix for the “Greatest show on grass” played at T.P.C. Scottsdale. The purse for the W.M. Phoenix Open has been increased to 20 million and will feature 22 of the world’s top 25 players and 8 of the top 10. World number one Rory McIlroy coming off a win in the Dubai Classic will make his first PGA start of 2023 and sits at 8/1.
Jon Rahm who has won two of his last three starts is next at 9/1. Defending champion and world number 2 Scottie Scheffler is at 12/1. Xander Schauffele at 14/1 and Tony Finau at 18/1 round out the top 5. Two-time Phoenix winner Hideki Matsuyama is 30/1 and our pick this week is Jason Day at 50/1.
