Let us dive into the 2023 Scottish Open Highlights. Also, let’s look at the golf betting picks for The 151st Open.
The 18th hole at the Renaissance Club, home of the Scottish Open was the toughest hole on the PGA tour last year. So it was no surprise that there was only one birdie all of Sunday before the last two groups reached the tee box. After an amazing second shot, 26-year-old Robert MacIntyre made the putt to take a one-shot lead at 14under par.
Rory McIlroy then birdied 17 and followed up with a birdie on 18 to capture the title and get his first career victory ever in Scotland. It was the 24th career PGA title for McIlroy and moved him past Jon Rahm to number two in the Official World Golf Ranking. Scottie Scheffler finished in a three-way tie for third with Ben An and David Lingmerth.
Meanwhile, back in the US, Swedish golfer Vincent Norrman won the playoff to take the Barbasol Championship over Englishman Nathan Kimsey. The victory was the first for Norrman in his twenty-third start. Kimsey was making his first PGA start and was trying to be the first player to win his initial start since 1988. The win moved Normann to one hundred and sixty-fourth in the world
The 2023 Open Championship will take place at Royal Liverpool for the 12th time and Rory McIlroy is the favorite at 7/1. McIlroy not only won the Scottish Open last week but he also won The Open last time it was held at this course. Scottie Scheffler who has 15 consecutive top-12 finishes sits as second choice at 15/2 and Jon Rahm is next at 10/1. Last year’s champion Cameron Smith is 14/1 and PGA Champion Brooks Koepka is 20/1.
Our Free betting pick this week is Wyndham Clark at 45/1. Clark has been playing well with two victories and long driving is his strength and that should help him in England
