While others faltered down the stretch Taylor Moore sat in the clubhouse at 10 under par and waited. When Jordan Spieth bogeyed two of the last three holes and Adam Schenk boogied 18, Moore could celebrate his victory in the Valspar Championship. Schenk ended up in 2nd with Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood tied for third.
The win was Moore’s first on the PGA tour and moved him to 49th in the World Rankings.
The LIV Golf league had an exciting finish in Tucson when four players finished at 9 under par and went to a playoff.
Brendan Steele and Louis Oosthuizen were eliminated on the first hole and Danny Lee birdied the next to defeat Carlos Ortiz for the trophy.
In the team event, The Fireballs captained by Sergio Garcia and led by Ortiz were the champions. The next LIV event will take place on March 31st in Orlando.
This week is the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play event taking place for the last time at Austin Country Club in Texas. The event starts with 16 pools of four golfers and the winner of each pool will go on to bracket play. Justin Thomas and Justin Rose are skipping this event.
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion and is the favorite at 9/1. Kevin Kisner who won in 2019 and was runner-up in 2018 and 2022 sits at 75/1. Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy are 12/1. Patrick Cantlay is 15/1 and Colin Morikawa rounds out the top 5 at 17/1. Our pick this week is Will Zalatoris at 25/1.
