2023 US Women’s Open

This will be the first time in the tournament’s illustrious history that this event will be held at the iconic Pebble Beach course, and everything looks set for another fantastic few days of golf.

With the betting for the tournament looking tight, here are some of the names you should look to keep an eye on.

The Favorites

New LPGA sensation Rose Zhang is the clear favorite for victory at this year’s US Women’s Open.

Zhang announced herself to the golfing world with a bang, winning on her professional debut at the Mizuho Americas Open. She backed that sensational win with a solid top ten showing in Women’s PGA.

With more experience under her belt and a course that is sure to suit, Zhang will start as the player the rest of the field will need to beat.

Next in the betting comes Jin Young Ko. The number one player in the world, Jin has won twice on the LPGA Tour this year with victories in the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup and the 2023 HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Twice a Major winner, it has been four years since Jin last tasted Major success and she will be hoping to set that record right here.

At just twenty years old, Atthaya Thitikul has already established herself as one of the most consistent players on the LPGA Tour and has already posted six top-ten finishes this year.

Yet to win a Major, she headed into the Women’s PGA as one of the leading fancies but played poorly to miss the cut. It’s rare that Thitikul produces two bad tournaments in succession so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her roar back to form this week.

Value Bets

With 156 players due to tee it up this week, there is plenty of value that can be found.

Nelly Korda wasn’t a factor in the Women’s PGA and played poorly to miss the cut. That was her first start since recovering from illness and she should fare much better here.

China’s Xiyu Lin came desperately close to winning her first major a few weeks ago and heads to Pebble Beach as one of the most consistent players on Tour. She has recorded three top-five finishes in her last five starts and looks well-placed for another crack at glory.

At the LPGA Leona Maguire cemented her position as Europe’s best female player. A recent winner of the Meijer LPGA Classic, she led through the first three rounds at the LPGA before falling away during the final round. Despite not capturing her first Major title, she showed she has the game to compete on the world’s hardest courses and can’t be discounted.

Long shots

Megan Khang is yet to win on the LPGA Tour but has posted two top-ten finishes in the two Majors she has played in this year. Khang clearly thrives on the big stage and with decent major form behind her, she could be one to keep an eye on this week.

Linn Grant has been the form player on the Ladies European Tour this season with two wins this season. Boasting a huge game, she hasn’t been able to fire in the Majors with her best finish coming in the 2022 Evian Championship. Grant knows what it takes to win, and her odds could be vastly overpriced if the Swede can bring her ‘A’ game.
